United Express Flights from Kearney to Denver Launch Sept. 5

KEARNEY, Nebraska Aug. 31, 2018 – SkyWest Airlines is pleased to launch new daily United Express jet service between Kearney Regional Airport (EAR) and Denver International Airport beginning Sept. 5, 2018. Tickets are available for purchase today at www.united.com.

The inaugural flight will depart Kearney on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 4:38 p.m. Media is invited to join city, airport and SkyWest officials for refreshments to welcome the first flight and celebrate the first departure from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. CT.

SkyWest selected to provide United Express Service at Kearney, Nebraska

City Manager Michael Morgan announced today that the Department of Transportation has selected Skywest Airlines as the Essential Air Service provider for the City of Kearney. The two year contract awarded to SkyWest will begin upon the Fall 2018 completion of the $12,000,000 Kearney Regional Airport primary runway project. SkyWest will operate 50 passenger regional jets with 12 nonstop roundtrip flights per week to Denver.

SkyWest is part of the United Airlines network which will be marketed as United Express. The carrier will feature bookings, connections and baggage transfers that will access United Airlines’ global network. Flight schedules and prices will be announced this coming summer.

Kearney Mayor, Stan Clouse commented , “this is exciting news that was the result of a lot of hard work by staff, City Council, various citizen committees, the Chamber of Commerce and others. City of Kearney Receives Air Service Proposals

The City of Kearney has received notice from the Department of Transportation detailing the receipt of essential air service proposals for passenger air service at the Kearney Regional Airport. The City received seventeen proposals from seven air service carriers. The proposals offer aircraft ranging from nine seat prop aircraft to fifty passenger regional jets. The proposals offer daily flights either to Denver or Omaha. The air carriers include United Express, Great Lakes Airlines, Key Lime Air, Boutique Air, Silver Air, ADI and Air Choice One.

The City will evaluate the proposals in the coming days and the City Council will meet early next week to provide community comments to the DOT. It is expected that the DOT will award the essential air service contract in late September or early October.
