Checked Baggage and Connecting Flights

Please read the following information carefully. Depending on how your itinerary is ticketed, you may need to claim your checked baggage and check it in with your connecting airline. If you have any questions about whether your baggage is checked through to your final destination, please ask an airline representative when checking your bags.

If your Denver Air Connection flight is booked in the same reservation with a connecting flight on United or American, your baggage can be checked through to your final destination.

For passengers who are not connecting to United or American flights, or who have purchased separate tickets for their connecting flight, you must claim your checked baggage from the baggage claim and recheck with your connecting airline. In this case, Denver Air Connection cannot claim your baggage from another airline. If you do not claim your own baggage from your other airline, consult your other airline for their policies on unclaimed/abandoned baggage. If you feel that you will not have enough time to make your connection, please contact our call center to change to a later flight, subject to any applicable change/cancellation fees.

Service Animals

Service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Qualified individuals with a disability are only permitted to travel with a maximum of two service animals The prime deterrent effects of an animal’s presence and the provision of emotional support, well-being, comfort, or companionship do not constitute work or tasks for the purposes of this definition. §36.104

Denver Air Connection welcomes trained service animals accompanying passengers aboard our flights, provided they are not too large to safely accommodate in the aircraft cabin. Service animals are not required to travel in a pet carrier, however, if you choose to carry your service animal in a pet carrier, that carrier must be properly stowed for taxi, takeoff and landing.

Passengers traveling with service animals may not sit in an exit row seat. Service animals may be placed on the aircraft floor, or if the animal is no larger than a child under the age of 2, the animal may travel on the passenger’s lap. Animals cannot be placed on an aircraft seat. Animals on the floor must be positioned so as not to obstruct passengers’ expeditious evacuation in the unlikely event of an emergency.

In December 2020, the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) created new rules regarding the transportation of service animals by air. In that rule the DOT allows air carriers to require passengers traveling with service animals to provide the air carrier with service animal documentation using a form provided by the DOT. If you are traveling with a service animal, please notify our call center at least 24 hours in advance and submit a completed copy of the DOT form located here: https://www.transportation.gov/sites/dot.gov/files/2020-12/Service Animal Health Behavior Training Form.pdf
